Happiness is a Skill
Happiness is a skill and I know this might be a stretch to believe
We cultivate happiness through the doorways below.
- Managing where our attention is
- Managing our emotion
- Managing our thoughts and imaginings
- Managing our behaviour
- Managing our breathing
- Managing to be honest with ourselves when we need help
- Managing our recreation and rest
- Managing our work life balance
Key word. Managing, it precedes the next evolution to even greater happiness and success.
Taking control of ourselves and deciding to take responsibility of our life design rather than letting life happen to us brings order and happiness.
It does not just happen.
Make a note of which areas you currently would benefit from a bit more attention and design.
Which one will you choose to start with this week and what is the easiest thing that will make the biggest difference that you will commit to? Check in with yourself each evening and practice in your mind what you will do to improve your new pattern the next day. How would you stand, walk, talk, feel, think and what do you say to yourself when you find yourself feeling happiness and delight? Make some notes and practise often as it will create new patterns in your nervous system that will give you more enjoyable experiences.
